The Churnet Valley Railway is delighted to announce that we have been awarded 1st Place in the Daily Mirror's Top 10 "UK Steam Train Trips".
Acknowledging that a journey on a heritage railway can at times be a luxurious break for some, the Mirror set out to find the best affordable family days out that offer good value for money. This also included studying local B&Bs to find the best local deals in order to make a weekend of any potential visit to the area. The award is described as providing a recommendation to "help you unwind whilst taking a journey into Britain's past".
At the same time the Churnet Valley Railway has also come 7th in Camping & Caravanning "Alternative Alton", which recommends alternative days out for visitors to Staffordshire who wish to sample something other than the popular theme park.
