Churnet Valley Railway received national recognition when the Sunday Telegraph published a striking photograph of one of our trains battling through snow on the MCR line between Leekbrook and Ipstones.
The 9"x6" winter view showed Polish Tank "Hotspur" working hard on the climb to Ipstones and appeared on page 5 opposite a major article on Network Rails trains being cancelled.
The London based photographer rang Froghall Office on Saturday 27 th December to ask for access permission and rang again on Sunday 28th to confirm his photograph would appear that day!
The company have since received several enquiries from interested public as a direct result of the prominent and impressive photo whose caption highlighted our ability to run such trains in heavy snow!
