Extra Dates For Award-winning Dining Train

The unique experience enjoyed by diners who join Churnet Valley Railway’s special dining trains has been recognised with a prestigious award.

The Railway was presented with the 2012 Best Dinner award by ACES, a transport uders’ group based in North Staffordshire, recognising the most entertaining dining experience members enjoyed during the year.

“The steam specials involve a lot of dedicated individuals working very hard in order to give the diners a truly uniqe experience. Passengers enjoy excellent food and drink in a supremely relaxing atmosphere.,” said ACES spokesman Selwyn Brown.

“ACES members recognise the dedication, enthusiasm and quality that is provided by Churnet Valley Railway,” he added.

Using the superbly restored and equipped Moorlander Dining Train, the Railway offers a full programme of lunch, supper and specially-themed dining opportunities throughout the year.

“Our dining trains are a hugely popular part of our programme and it is very pleasing to receive this honour,” said CVR Assistance Commercial Manager Chris Fletcher, who accepted the award on behalf of the Railway.

With the original 2013 schedule of dining trains now fully booked, two more dates have been announced when visitors can enjoy dinner during a classic train journey along the beautiful Churnet Valley.

On Wednesday 24th July a special 70’s-themed supper train and the evening will include live music from the Halcyon Nights band.

On Saturday 7th September, a special “Good Night Sweetheart” 1940’s dining train will run. There will be a four-course dinner on the train and live musical entertainment from Mr Johnny Victory.
