A Window In Time

The Churnet Valley Railway is fascinated to have recently been sent footage of a recorded journey along the original Churnet Valley Line in the late 1950s. Taken by the late John Collins, the 8mm cine film has been uploaded onto YouTube by his son-in-law and shows a journey John took from Uttoxeter along the full length of the NSR line to Macclesfield aboard one of the regular steam services.

Keep an eye out for contrasting views of todays scenes, including the former industrial skyline of Oakamoor, the old siding at Podmore's Mill and Cheddleton before it became the HQ for the preservationists. It really is a trip down memory lane and we feel privileged to be able to view such footage.
