Youth Is The Future

29/04/2022 (1 year ago)   General News

We have for many years been advocates of encouraging younger people to the business in any department. The Railway is a great place to meet new people and make new friends – some of these friendships lasting a lifetime.

On Sunday 24th April 2022 we were able more by chance than planning to operate our service using a group of young members of our team. From Left to Right Thomas Crewe (aged 22 a Fireman joined the railway at 19) Robert Alcock (aged 29 a Fireman & Diesel Driver joined the railway at 16) Chris Simcock (aged 30 Steam & Diesel Driver joined the railway at 16) Rhys Wharton (aged 27 Cleaner joined the railway at 23) Jack Ilczyszyn (aged 25 Diesel Driver & Fireman joined the railway at 16)

The Railway welcomes people from any walk of life, with or without railway knowledge. Some people have joined us with little knowledge and have gone on to become Chartered Engineers others just like to spend a weekend away from the day job.

We don’t just need locomotive staff, we have openings in nearly every department. Catering, gardening, site services, track, carriages etc.
