Rail Car Day 2nd March 2014

The railway will be holding a new and unique event to the line, the Rail Car Day will give visitors the opportunity to experience rail car travel dating from the early 1900’s and the 1960’s. The motive power for the day will be;

·         New build Steam Rail Motor No. 93 courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre

·         Resident Class 104 DMU

The two units will be in action between Cheddleton and Froghall including the very rare opportunity to travel along the section of line between Froghall and Oakamoor loop. This section is not normally open to the public and the two units will offer a spectacular view of this section of line.

Trains will pass at Consall Station.

Due to the limited capacity on the Steam Rail Motor there will be supplemental fair valid for one round trip only starting from Cheddleton on a first come first serve basis.

Additional Attractions

Beyer Peacock No. 1827 will be on driver experience course at Cheddleton bay platform, tickets can be obtained from Cheddleton booking office.

The locomotive workshops will be open during the weekend to view progress on the major overhaul of S160 No. 5197 along with the new machine shop and carriage shed.

Full catering facilities are available at Froghall and Cheddleton with light refreshments also available at Consall.

The timetable for the event and the online booking system will be on the website in advance of the event.
