The Churnet Valley Railway would like to remind future travellers that we are a proud supporter of the revived Rail Riders, that was brought back to life by original Rail Riders member Simon Buxton in February 2020.

This popular rail enthusiast club offers its members discounts to hundreds of railway attractions and shops, plus exclusive behind the scenes tours to railway facilities across the UK. For would be visitors to the Churnet Valley, Rail Rider members are able to gain a 25% discount on rail travel fares for standard timetable days. As part of the scheme members are given a Rail Riders passbook to collect railway stamps, and the CVR has had its own branded stamp made to acknowledge any visit made to our line.

Since its relaunch Rail Riders has steadily grown and its success has seen two mainline locomotives named after the club. The offer with the Churnet Valley allows members to add one of the UK’s most diverse railways to their tick list, with the scenic valley section interweaving with canal and river before the line climbs steeply into the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands. Pre-booking is not required, and discounts can be claimed from Froghall Booking Office upon display of a valid membership card.

The Churnet Valley Railway is about to enter the busy holiday period, with trains planned to run four days a week throughout August. For further details please see the CVR website and social media pages.
