Moorlander 2017

For 2017 the Churnet Valley Railway is excited to announce the launch of a brand new dining service, adding another option to its hugely popular “Moorlander” dining trains, all of which offer a scenic journey through Staffordshire’s hidden valley whilst sitting back to enjoy full waitress on-board the line's dedicated dining coach “Diana”.

The Moorlander Brunch train is booked to make its first departure from Kingsley & Froghall station on Sunday 5th February, offering a 4-course breakfast/lunch served to your table, with a further four Brunch trains in the offering for later in 2017. This is in addition to the hugely popular Lunch and Afternoon Cream Tea services that have been running for a number of years, and which are seeing an ever increase in bookings – with 2016 having seen a high number of these services increased in capacity to cope with the demand. And so with the new season approaching it has been decided to branch out further, and offer yet another tempting service with two sittings available each day of operation for the brunch trains. Whilst on-the-day tickets will be available from Froghall station, pre-booking is recommended for what is expected to be a popular addition to the dining train programme (and for which a discount is available).

The line is also offering a small number of evening dining experiences, with the first planning to spread the love for Valentine's Day. If a romantic four-course dinner served aboard a candlelit dining coach sounds to you liking, then tickets are available now for the Valentines Express – which departs from Cheddleton Station at 7.30pm on Saturday 11th February. Tickets are £40 per person and pre-booking is essential for this service.

During the early part of 2016, the CVR’s dedicated dining train underwent a refurbishment funded by the legacy from a long-standing volunteer Diana Clementson, and as mark of acknowledgement to her memory her name was bestowed upon the actual dining car. All of the Moorlander services are pre-bookable, with only the brunch service available for bookings on-the-day, and the set is also available for Weddings and Private Hire throughout the year.
