30/03/2012 (8 years ago) Offers

<p style="\\"text-align:" justify;\\"=""> Families visiting the Churnet Valley Railway over the Easter holiday are in for an ‘eggstra’ treat – all children can travel for just £1.

The special offers has been announced as the heritage attraction prepares for a big turn-out at the start of its spring season, with passenger services throughout the Easter weekend as well as following Wednesday.

For a picturesque 11-mile return journey along the valley, passengers can board at either Kingsley & Froghall Station or Cheddleton Station and trains will also call at Consall Station, set deep in the heart of “Staffordshire’s Little Swtizerland”.

Services will run from 10.30am onwards on Good Friday, Saturday April 7, Easter Sunday, Bank Holiday Monday and Wednesday April 11. On Friday the timetable will be boosted by 18-mile return journeys along the Cauldon branch line, giving passengers views over contasting moorland scenery.

Sunday’s attractions include special Easter activities for the young including hunt the rabbit, egg painting, egg hunts and activity tables.

There’s also the chance to mark the holiday in style with a four-course Easter Sunday lunch on the luxurious Moorlander Dining Train, price £35 per person.

“Easter is the year’s first big opportunity for a family day out, so we wanted to make a special offer to those bringing children along. As well as providing some extra activities for the young, our ‘Kids go for £1’ price makes a day at the railway even better value,” said commercial manager Margaret Mountford.

Car parking is available at both Kingsley & Froghall and Cheddleton and no advance booking is needed except for the Sunday lunch train.

Easter also sees the start of the Churnet Valley Railway’s expanded timetable, with trains running every Saturday and Sunday over the spring and summer.
