An historic moment for ourselves, and preservation in the UK. For the first time since 1944, two USATC S160s worked together on UK soil, as 5197 performed a loaded test run with sister 6046 kept in service as insurance following completion of yesterday's services,
A return trip along the CVR was completed as darkness fell, and whilst a small number of issues were highlighted the locomotive is still on course to return to public service at our Winter Steam Gala 2017.
The picture shows the locomotives during a pause at Consall, whilst a quick inspection was made to ensure everything was running ok. We hope you're excited as we are for the pair's formal entry into service later this month.
