Neighbouring Foxfield Light Railway is a preserved standard gauge line located south east of Stoke-on-Trent. The line was built in 1893 to serve the colliery at Dilhorne on the Cheadle Coalfield. It joined the North Staffordshire Railway line near Blythe Bridge.

The North Staffordshire Railway Rolling Stock Restoration Trust ( the "Knotty Trust" ) have restored NSR coaches Nos. 61 & 127 to form the Knotty Heritage Train, with plans to restore an additional three vehicles to form a complete vintage set.

Neighbouring Rudyard Lake Steam Railway is on another section of the Churnet Valley Line . The railway uses miniature narrow gauge steam engines on its trains to give a scenic 3 mile return trip along the side of Rudyard Lake.
