Spud & Steam is a laid-back heritage railway experience with a comforting classic at its heart: a hot jacket potato with your choice of topping.

Arrive at Froghall at least 20 minutes before departure, collect your jacket potato from the tearooms, choose a drink if you'd like one, then take your seat on board. From there, sit back and enjoy the journey as the train travels through the Staffordshire countryside towards Ipstones and back.

It's ideal if you want something more than a standard train ride, but simpler and more informal than a full dining train.

Tickets are £15.00 per person. The current page lists this as an all-ages ticket price.
When does Spud & Steam run?
Spud & Steam runs on selected Saturdays at 13:30 and Wednesdays at 19:00 from June to September
When food is included?
Your ticket incliudes a jacket potato with your chosen topping. Current topping options are cheese & beans, tuna mayo, beans, or just butter.
Where do I collect my jacket potato?
Please arrive at least 20 minutes before departure to collect your jacket potato before boarding. The current listing says jacket potatoes are available for collection at Froghall tearooms.
How long is the journey?
The journey is a scenic two-hour round trip to Ipstones and back.
Can I buy drinks?
Yes. You can grab a drink on arrival to take on board, and a trolley service is available during the journey with hot, cold, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks.
Is this a full dining train?
No. Spud & Steam is a more informal experience. You collect your jacket potato before boarding, then enjoy it as part of your steam train journey. For full dining-carriage service, visitors should look at the main dining train experiences.
