Plan Your Day Out At Churnet Valley Railway

Your Route Through The Picturesque Churnet Valley

Froghall Station

Froghall is the main starting point for your journey and the best place to begin if you want to enjoy the full round trip, which lasts just over two hours.

Before you board, you can visit our traditional Signals Tea Room for drinks, cakes, light lunches, and homemade treats. It's a welcoming place to start your day, with wheelchair access, a family-friendly setting, and a cosy open fire on colder days. Right next door, you'll also find our souvenir shop for gifts and keepsakes.

Set in the Staffordshire Moorlands near Froghall Wharf, the station offers everything you need to start your visit comfortably, including parking, a drop-off area, toilets, baby changing facilities, and limited disabled parking.

Consall Station

Consall is one of the most distinctive stops on the line, tucked away in beautiful countryside and accessible only by rail.

It's an ideal place to break your journey if you want to enjoy the scenery, set off on a country walk, or simply spend time by the Churnet Valley's peaceful riverside and canal paths. One popular route links Consall and Cheddleton via the Cauldon Canal and River Churnet, making this a great stop for walkers and picnic-goers alike.

Cheddleton Station

Cheddleton is the only original station on the Churnet Valley Railway and a great stop for visitors who want to explore a little more.

This Victorian Grade II listed station sits beside the River Churnet and offers toilets and baby changing facilities, along with light refreshments on most running days, including cold drinks and snacks. Souvenirs are also available here.

Cheddleton is also home to our locomotive sheds, where our volunteers help maintain the railway's engines. When access is available, this can be a fascinating part of the visit, although the sheds may sometimes be closed for operational or safety reasons.

From the station, you can also enjoy a walk along the canal paths to nearby attractions including St Edward's Church and Cheddleton Flint Mill.

Leek brook Station

Leekbrook is the most recently restored station on our route and opened to the public in 2018 on the site of the original station building.

It includes a small station building and toilet facilities.

Please note that Leekbrook Station will be closed during 2026.
