The Churnet Valley Railway’s Rail Ale Trail is one of Staffordshire’s’ most popular events of the year, and draws crowds from across the country and all four corners of the United Kingdom.
A 5.5 mile festival dedicated to beer, music and food, you can let the train take the strain and enjoy one fabulous day out. Enjoy a beer as you travel along the Churnet Valley hauled by one of our heritage locomotives, with the unique experience of being able to sample a multitude of tipples offering varying tastes from across the country – all from the comfort of our 1950's carriages.
Operated in a joint effort with North Staffordshire’s very own ‘Lymestone Brewery’; there is a bar at Froghall and Consall and on board the train itself, serving more than 20 types of beer across the railway. This show-stopping event is enhanced further by the local pubs – each within walking distance of one of our stations.
On Saturday trains run late into the evening, with discounted tickets available after 16:00. Whether you’re the seasoned drinker, adventurous hipster or a careful free spirit of your group – there will be a taste for everyone on the Churnet Valley Railway! Froghall Station becomes hive of activity during this event with the main bar located here, and entertainment provided all day with live music whilst Signals Tearooms offers tasty treats across the station site.
With a variety of entertainment on over the weekend, we will be sure to keep to good times going while you enjoy your new favourite drink.
Discounted tickets are available on line, so don’t miss out !
