Earlier this year, Support Staffordshire asked local communities to nominate local “Volunteer Super Heroes” for their annual Volunteer of the Year Award.

From over 30 nominations, a panel of independent judges has selected four finalists, and the Churnet Valley Railway is delighted to announce that one of our own volunteers – Robert Barclay – has successfully made it into the final!

Many of you who have visited the line will have met Robert at Kingsley & Froghall station, going about his business without making a fuss yet ensuring all our visitors have the best possible experience.

We ask if all of our supporters can vote for Robert, by clicking on the link >here<. It takes less than half a minute to vote, so please do have a look and read up on Robert’s story.

The winners will be announced live on Moorlands Radio on Friday 9th June between 9am and 10am, bringing a conclusion to National Volunteers Week in Staffordshire.

The award has been designed to help celebrate the achievements of members of our local community week in and week out at their chosen project. Using their time to simply benefit others, each finalist has made their own mark on our community and gone that extra mile time and time again.
