The Churnet Valley Railway is excited to announce details of its 1940s event; Operation Oatcake – revamped for 2019.

Following on from the past success of War in the Valley, the event has been rebranded as “Staffordshire at War” to cater for historical interest throughout the County, and extended to four days covering the full Spring bank holiday weekend – the perfect start to Whitsun Half Term!

Our first confirmed act for 2019 is Lorrie Brown, making a return visit following her hugely successful debut in the Churnet Valley last year. Reprising her award-winning role as the UK’s premier Vera Lynn tribute act, Lorrie will be performing throughout the weekend across the railway included an exclusive Saturday evening performance aboard the Moorlander Dining Train. Then on Sunday she will take centre stage for her popular “Salute to the Forties” with a variety of tribute acts performing including George Formby, Gracie Fields and the Andrews Sisters.

Making their debut at the CVR will also be Charleston Dance Group, showcasing their range of dance tutorials for dancers of all abilities. Whether you are a frequent visitor to such events or a newbie making their own debut, Froghall will be the place to be as Charleston’s group of professional dancers will teach you how to Jive, Lindy-hop or Swing your way through the show.

Tickets are available online now, though a 50% discount is available for On The Day tickets if you attend in period wear. Discounts are not applicable to the Moorlander Dining Train, which must be pre-booked in advance. For further details please visit the dedicated event page for Operation Oatcake.
